Two Girls Arrested in Bullied Ex-Classmate’s Suicide
This is very disturbing to me for several reasons: I was bullied as a child, I’ve been suicidal, and I’ve been vastly underweight. I know exactly what this girl was going through and it makes me very, very angry on her behalf. The sad thing is, I’ve seen things like this happening in other places on the Internet. I’ve seen people hacked and bullied by jealous, angry female classmates and former friends. I’ve seen people be told by total strangers to kill themselves. People can be so, so incredibly horrible to each other, especially when they don’t have to look the other person in the eye. I do what I can — I try to stand up for the people I see and tell them they matter — but there’s only so much you as a stranger can do, which is very frustrating.
We could all use a little more empathy sometimes, I think.
Doesn’t it just feel terrible when you see and hear about this, and you want to do something about it, but there just isn’t a lot you can do? I am in shock and disbelief at the number of suicides these past years, and I hate that suicides are what it took to raise more awareness with bullying.
